The Physical Internet Initiative aims at transforming the way physical objects are moved, stored, realized, supplied and used, pursuing global logistics efficiency and sustainability. Originating from Professor Benoit Montreuil in 2006, this ground breaking vision, revolutionizing current paradigms, has stirred great interest from scientific, industrial as well as governmental communities.

The International Physical Internet Conference 2021 aims to provide an open forum for researchers, industry representatives, government officials and citizens to together explore, discuss, introduce leading edge concepts, methodologies, recent projects, technological advancements, start-up initiatives, for current and future Physical Internet implementation. Conference topics include Logistics Nodes, Logistics Networks, System of Logistic Networks, Access and Adoption, Governance. New business models, enabling technologies and experimentations already underway will be presented, making this meeting a unique opportunity to learn, network and discuss the latest results and challenges about interconnected logistics.

The two EU funded projects 5G-LOGINNOV and FENIX, coordinated by ERTICO, will  participate in IPIC2021. Researchers from the two ERTICO coordinated projects, FENIX and 5G-LOGINNOV, will make a valuable contribution to the IPIC2021 agenda and both projects will also have a presence in the virtual exhibition area.

FENIX will develop the first European federated architecture for data sharing serving the European logistics community of shippers, logistics service providers, mobility infrastructure providers, cities, and authorities in order to offer interoperability between any individual existing and future platforms. 5G-LOGINNOV will optimise operations and the maintenance of ports and logistics hubs thanks to cutting-edge 5G enabled services.

IPIC2021 is organized by ALICE – the European Technology Platform ALICE and ICCS – the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems and registration will be open until the 10th of June.
